Upgrade to a 400A electrical service when your home needs more capacity for modern appliances, EV charging, additions, workshops, and other high-demand electrical loads.
Older 100A or 200A services can become limiting when a home adds EV chargers, heat pumps, electric appliances, pools, workshops, additions, or other large loads.

All-electric appliances
Modern ranges, ovens and appliances draw higher amounts of power.
Home additions
New living spaces increase your electrical load.
High-demand equipment
Heat pumps, pools, workshops and more require additional capacity.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Does my home really need 400A service?
Not every home does. If you're adding EV chargers, heat pumps, an electric range, a pool, a workshop or a big addition, a 200A service can run out of room. A load calculation tells us whether 400A is the right call or whether your current service can handle it.
How do you determine the right service size?
We run a load calculation on what you have today and what you plan to add, then size the service to that instead of guessing.
Will the utility company need to be involved?
Yes. A service upgrade changes the connection to the grid, so the utility has to sign off and schedule the reconnect. We coordinate that with them for you.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We pull the permits and coordinate the inspections the job needs.
How long does a service upgrade take?
The install itself is usually a day of work, but utility scheduling and inspections set the overall timeline. You get a realistic schedule with your estimate.
Can a 400A upgrade support future EV chargers?
That's one of the main reasons people do it. We plan the panel layout with room for current and future chargers.
How much does a 400A service upgrade cost?
It depends on your existing equipment, the distance to the meter, and what the utility requires. We look at the site and give you a clear, detailed estimate before any work starts.
